Tempozan Harbor Village
Tempozan grew up around Osaka's old port entrance, and today it's a low-key harbourside strip built around Kaiyukan Aquarium, a large shopping and dining complex, and the Tempozan Ferris Wheel, one of the largest in Japan when it opened and still a genuine city landmark on the skyline.
Konohana and Universal Studios Japan
A short ride further around the bay, the Konohana ward holds Universal Studios Japan and the Universal CityWalk shopping strip that leads into it — a separate, purpose-built district in its own right, distinct from Tempozan's quieter harbour atmosphere.
Getting there and getting around
The bay area doesn't sit directly on the Midosuji Line, so it takes a deliberate trip — the Osaka Metro Chuo Line to Osakako Station for Tempozan, or the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal City for USJ. It's easily worth combining with a half-day rather than treating as a quick stop, given the travel time involved.
