Namba and Dotonbori are popular solo bases simply because there's always somewhere open and something happening within a short walk, which matters more when you're not splitting logistics with travel companions. Umeda is a solid quieter alternative with the same ease of transit connections.

Capsule and pod-style hotels were originally built with the solo traveller in mind, and Osaka's newer generation of design-led capsule hotels are genuinely comfortable rather than purely functional — often a better value single-occupancy option than a cramped standard hotel single room.
Eating alone is completely normal
Counter-seating restaurants, ramen shops and standing-only takoyaki stalls are all built around solo, efficient dining, and eating alone at a counter carries none of the awkwardness it can elsewhere — it's simply how a lot of Osaka eats on an ordinary night.
General safety
Osaka is, by most standard measures, a low-violent-crime city, and solo travellers — including women travelling alone — commonly report feeling comfortable walking at night in the main central districts. As anywhere, ordinary city awareness still applies, particularly around late-night drinking areas.
